At Bebington Glass, we provide can provide safety glass in Wirral and across the North West and North Wales for when standard double glazing is not enough. There are many areas where safety glass is necessary to protect yourself or others. This includes public places and car glass. There are 2 types of safety glass, toughened and laminated. Whilst they are not indestructible, they offer additional protection from impact to reduce the risk of injury.
Our toughened or laminated glass meet national standards or Codes of Practice specifically regarding the use of safety glazing materials, such as low level areas where a child could accidentally fall.
Toughened Glass
Toughened glass breaks into small pieces with blunt edges when it breaks. This makes them less likely to cause injury like jagged edges of regular broken glass can. This glass is tempered during the manufacturing process through a heating and cooling process. This also makes it up to 5 times tougher than regular glass.
Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is similar to toughened glass, but is made using 2 panes that are separated by a film made from polyvinyl butyral. In the event of a breakage, the film holds the glass together and prevents it from falling. This type of window can be coloured or tinted to suit the premises.
